What is the Thermage® Procedure?
Thermage is an FDA approved non-surgical procedure which tightens
and contours the skin by tightening the tissue. It reduces the
signs of aging skin, giving you a more youthful appearance. Utilizing
radio-frequency technology, the system tightens your existing collagen
while stimulating new collagen growth, thereby causing visible
improvements which will continue for 6 months.
Am I a Candidate?
Thermage works on all skin types and tones. Any person with skin that shows
signs of aging is a candidate for this procedure. Whether your skin is sagging
because of sun damage or heredity, Thermage can help you achieve a more youthful
appearance.
Is it Safe?
The Thermage procedure is very safe. This advanced, FDA cleared treatment
has been studied carefully in thousands of patients with minimal reports
of adverse events.
How long is the Treatment?
Depending upon the area being treated, treatment times may vary. Most treatments
take anywhere from thirty to seventy five minutes. Additional time is required
for skin preparation prior to the procedure.
When will I see Results?
While some patients may see an immediate response, the majority of patients
will see results gradually appear over a 2 to 6 month period after a single
treatment session.
How long will the effects of the Thermage procedure last?
The Thermage procedure causes an immediate tightening of the collagen structure
with additional tightening over time. Experienced physicians estimate results
to last several years or longer. Duration of results is highly individualized
and based on the patient’s natural aging process.
How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced good results in most patients. However,
your individual progress will be assessed by Dr.Gerrish to provide optimal
results for your skin.
How long before I can return to my normal activities?
Most people return to their regular activities immediately following the
Thermage procedure. Some people experience mild redness (like sunburn),
which resolves quickly. There is no special care needed after a treatment,
but sunscreen, with an SPF of 30 or greater, is recommended as a part of
good skin care.
